Spinnakers Beach Bar is one of the most popular St. Lucian restaurants and a favorite to thousands of visitors from all over the world. You will find them open from 9am until 11pm, Monday through Saturday, on the famous Reduit beach ready to serve you their sumptuous food and cold beverages.

If you decide to come to St. Lucia by yacht, or your just limin’ on the sand of Reduit beach, then you have to pay Spinnakers Beach Bar a visit. Grab a snack when you get hungry, they serve a variety of quick bites which also includes their famous lobster salad.

This beach bar and restaurant is beyond relaxing. Dresscode? This is one of the few St. Lucian restaurants where you can be attired in your beach wear and you would still be served as one who is properly attired. The food is reasonably priced where you can have a decent meal for US$17.

Sunset at Spinnakers Because it is the only restaurant directly on the Reduit beach, sometimes it gets really busy at lunch time so that can take up a few minutes from the time you ordered to the time you receive it.

Spinnakers becomes the place to be to watch the setting sun and chillax the night away. Stay for dinner and choose a nice ocean-side table. Listen to the waves crash just feet away as you enjoy a cold Piton beer and gaze into the eyes of that special someone. (Too Cheesy? I’m thinking so.)

For dinner you can choose from wide assortments of appetizers, entrees, pastas, sea foods, meat and chicken dishes. You can choose from their varied and extensive dinner menu – will it be St.Lucian Bouillabaisse, Veal Parmiagana, Fillet au Poivre or Lobster Thermidore!! – to name but a few local and international favorites. There is something for everyone with a wide range of prices, the freshest fish and lobster, you can often see our catch being delivered straight off the beach!

If you want to indulge a few boat drinks, then Happy Hour is at 5 – 6 pm.

Going strong for 17 years, Spinnakers on sandy Reduit beach is a great place for people-watching and chilling. Owners Alison and Michael Ritchings have upped the ante here as this is definitely above par for the usual Caribbean beach bar genre.

I absolutely love this photo. The gleaming white skin of the catamaran, its mast stretching to touch the top of the Piton, the entire vessel framed by the steep mountain sides, everything comes together to create a beautiful photograph. What I would give to of been behind that lens.

I love all sailing boats, but there’s just something about catamarans that captures my attention. I don’t know if it’s the massive deck space they provide so that a soggy pirate can stretch out and relax, or the shallow draft they have so that said pirate can pilot the vessel into shallow secluded coves. Whatever the reason the catamaran style speaks to me.

The Pitons are two volcanic plugs located on the southwest end of St. Lucia and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These St. Lucian icons go by the names of Gros Piton (2,619 ft.) and Petit Piton (2,461 ft.). While Gros Piton is slightly taller, Petit is the much tougher climb.

You can find an official guide center at the base of Gros Piton that will give you the history of the Pitons and sends you up the marked trail with a certified guide. To summit the tougher Petit you need to do a little more work. Stop in the town of Soufrière and ask around for a local guide. There is no official trail or tourist office for this climb. You don’t need to be an experience climber to summit the Pitons but you will need to be somewhat in shape, be good on your feet and be ready for a work out.

This week’s Caribbean webcam comes from Rodney Bay in the enchanting island of St. Lucia. It is the area of the tourist activity, although it is situated the other end of the island to the international airport.

It is home to the beautiful Reduit beach, which is lined with some stunning local hotels and bars.
There is also the Rodney bay village which is a mixed residential and commercial area, where you will find nice residences and a variety of restaurants and bars to cater for most needs. This area is also home to the famous lime restaurant.

With over 7,000 islands, islets, reefs and cays, the Caribbean is a very diverse region. There are many well known larger islands and numerous smaller islands that are less known. If you want to take Caribbean vacations, you should try to visit as many of the islands as you can. Although these islands are in the same general region, each island has its own distinct characteristics.

One of the larger islands in the Caribbean is Puerto Rico. This island is an unincorporated territory of the United States. From Crashboat Beach to Playa de Ponce, there are beautiful beaches that surround this awesome island. There is a Tropical Agriculture Research Station on the western side of the island. The Arecibo Observatory is located near the center of the island and is a great tourist attraction. If you feel like hitting a round of 18 holes, there is a golf resort on the eastern side. When it comes to nature Puerto Rico has plenty of offer. There is a National Forest and Nature Reserve both located on the eastern coast as well.

If you are looking for an island where you can get away from your all inclusive hotels and spend all of your time on sandy beaches, then Barbados is the island for you. Mullins Beach, Paradise Beach, Sandy Beach, Casuarina Beach and Silver Sand Beach are some of the better known beaches on the island. The beaches on this island are what draws thousands of visitors each year.

There are plenty of other smaller islands that you can also travel to. These islands include St. Eustatius, St. Kitts, Nevis, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, and St. Lucia just to name a few. There are also the British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands. The Bahamas also have their own cluster of islands that are also part of the Caribbean. Bermuda is another of the better known islands in the Caribbean. If you are looking for the perfect getaway for your romantic vacations, Bermuda is the island for you.

Whichever island you do decide to spend your vacation on, you are guaranteed to have a fabulous trip. The people in the Caribbean are extremely warm and welcoming. You will instantly feel at home. Whether you are looking to lounge on warm sandy beaches or to hike up a grandiose mountain, these islands are the diverse location that can provide each of these activities. After a week on one of these islands you will not want to leave. The Caribbean is definitely a part of the world that everyone should experience.
