11 Palm Tree Photos That Will Have You Planting Coconuts

Palm tree photos

What makes the tropics feel like the tropics? It could be the warm blue water, might be the temperature that never dips below 70, or it could be the never ending supply of cheap rum. All very good qualifiers, but to this Castaway the palm tree is the quintessential symbol that tells you that you’ve arrived in the lower latitudes. That’s why it’s the main element of the RSR logo.

Palms come in many different shapes and sizes. You have tall ones, short ones, green ones and even blue ones. No matter what they look like, after almost 11 years living in South Florida they still put a smile on my face.

This post is comprised of 11 absolutely stunning photos of palm trees. Taken by a few unknowns and a couple photographers that live and breath the coastal life, Old Mango and Ft. Lauderdale Sun, their photos will dazzle you. They’ll have you floatin’ or a flyin’, anything southbound, headin’ to the islands, grabbing a little white sand and chillaxing in the shade under the swaying fronds of one these tropical icons. (Bonus points for anyone who can tell me where the words from that last sentence came from!)

I hope you enjoy these palm photos as much as I do. The palm tree represents the tropical island lifestyle better than just about anything else. It’s nice to give them their time in the sun.

  1. I love the shot by the Fort Lauderdale Sun shooting straight up the trunk of the tree. Great shot!

  2. Yeah, that one really is a jaw dropper. He doesn’t such a great show of going to the same area everyday and getting totally unique shots.

  3. Love the Jost van Dyke shot, this is one of the shots I took when i rented Ivan’s Guest House for 2 weeks in Dec of 2010.

  9. It’s amazing how these beautiful palm trees can make us smile and just feel good. Oh, I love the sun, the sea, the palm trees and the weather in the tropics. By the way, I think what you mean by “chillaxing in the shade under the swaying fronds of one these tropical icons”, is chillaxing in the shade on a hammock just like in your logo. Am I right? Just guessing.

  10. I like the way you think Mary! Chillaxing in a hammock under one of these tropical icons is about as close to perfect as one can get. Thanks for the comment!
